I'm looking at the apple mac mini at the moment ,seriously considering ditching microsoft for some peace of mind.
I started off in dos many moons ago ,nemesis dungeon etc etc.

Anyone know is the mac mini worth a bash and whats the os like on it?

I'm fed up with fans blowing ,windows slowing and security this security that.

i had a bit of a go on 1 the other night. they are nice.
imo a bit pricey and not my style really. but have to admit, overall i was impressed but let down on the specs

    1 gig max?
not the best graphics ( ATI Radeon 9200 )
    very small hard drive. ( 40 - 80 gigs )

the size is great, but no mouse or keyboard with it. unless you get a bundle from a shop in which you pay over the top for it.
the wireless feature is nice. along with the superdrive dvd.

not much help was i.. lol.

id rather stick to my p.c and laptop tbh.

    Stop using computers. Problem solved.

Seriously, thats the name of the game these days. Hell, 3 virii were discovered for OS X in the last few days. Even mobile phones, PDAs, Palms and Smart devices have their security issues. No matter where you go you're going to have toi put up with it, and the only way you can truely avoid it is to stop.

I'm under an impression that apples grafx and scrolling are smoother somehow than windows ???,is this right .
I have a logitech cordless mouse and keyboard at the moment and both can go straight to usb.
I was going to have both my pc and the mac mini hooked together with a kvm switch and use the mac mini at night Quiet and pc during the day for work etc.

Personally i think it's ridiculous in this day and age people with gable wall size pcs that's fans could power a 20KW wind genorator
But who am i to criticize the millions of people who buy tiny mobile phones.

Almost certainly not. Most graphics cards are more than capable of keeping up with any 2d operations you can throw at them.

The Mac mini I've used is sluggish on 10.3.9: the drive in it isn't the fastest either, and the processor is anemic.

Handy for a 'media pc', but not for real work.

Wait for the new intel based mini to be announced, then you can either get a new one with better specs for the same money or pick up an old one at a reduced price.

I thought the mac mini was going to hold on to old apple technology.
I didn't realize the whole apple range was going to intel.

Good for us here with the intel factory :D
