I'd avoid MCD too, unless I properly wanted to see any of the bands involved. If it was a band I didn't really know or something, the MCD factor would turn me off. Whereas I'd go to random Toxic gigs if I never heard of the band before. Still go to loads of MCD gigs though. Unfortunately they go promote a lot of the gigs I want to go to.

MCD describe Against Me as "This generation's Clash".

That's probably taken from Against Me's press release.

I think MCD are fine when it comes to gigs, don't see what the problem is really. They can't do a good festival though.

Open your eyes, they're a scumbag company that sticks hot pokers into your wallet!

Too expensive, **** venues (most of the time), and crap security.

The first few Witnness' were brilliant.

I used to gawk at the prices for gigs here in comparison with continental Europe. But the fact is, we get paid better, so we pay more. Plus (although we may not get as many supporting acts) they do charge more or less the same price as gigs in the UK and US.

I've no real problems with the Ambassador or the Olympia, they're both a little dingy though. Security doesn't really bother me tbh, I've seen much worse things happen at an Aiken or u:mack-promoted gig.

I just dislike the Olympia. I quite like the Ambassador. It's the security that really annoys me. I've never seen the same crowd doing security at an Aiken gig. I've never seen security at all in Vicar St.

Because MCDm and all those other scumbag promoters like them, make their money off the sweat and blood of musicians, artists. The blokes playing the instruments work their bollox off and these ****ers run away with the money. They've done this for ****in years and so it's acceptable these days. Never mind venue or security or any of that, it's the cash that really matters at the end of the day, end of story.

    Good reasons

    1. Against me! are very good
    2. It costs 18 euro in. You will pay 20 euro at Toxic gigs in the voodoo alot.
    3. The venue is grand.
    4. Suck a wet baby out of my crevice

heard this was dramatically under attended... someone said there was around the same amount of people there as the last time against me played in the city arts centre (it was €6 in, no bouncers.. how does that compare with mcd, u:mack, toxic, aiken, anyone..?). guess selling out isnt going so well for them after all.

There wasn't too much at it really and it would have suited a smaller venue. Was a great gig, very down to earth band. Drummer was tuning his own drums and stuff.
