i wuz in here last week and have decided on the casio exilim ex-s600

was about to buy of technikdirect and thought i'd spend 1 last time trying to get a better deal. i headed to ebay for the craic (never usually buy of ebay) and came across techtoysforless who have some fantastic offers. i could get the camera + extra battery & 1gig sd card for ~€257 + delivery. on technik it'd be €302 + delivery just for the camera and nothing else.

obviously i know the better deal but do you reckn i'd be safe buying off ebay and getting delivered from the states, with customs and all that? it's a tempting deal with the free 1 gig card & extra battery.

You are aware you will probably be stung for import duties on the camera?

yeah i know the deal, what is it though 21% or is it whatever they fell like?

what about the old 'gift' trick, is that a myth or does it actually work?

I bought my Canon 350D last week from technikdirect. got it in 3 days and couldnt fault it. but the only thing was the manual was german/franch/italian so you might want to keep that in mind. ordered new english on from Canon for £12 so still saving at least 250 euro over high street prices.

for the peace of mind I'd get it from technikdirect.

the gift thing is hit and miss in my experience.

what about shipping it to the north? same rules apply?

i suppose the peace of mind factor is the big one, i reckon an extra €100 with technik but then if i do get stung with customs that will cancel the savings out.

ah sure i'll just go with technik, saving a bomb anyway buying it there than over here.
