Problems with DVD+RW

I have a number of DVD+RWs filled with MP3s that I play through my DVD player.
Today I tried to add to one of these disks only to receive message "Files on this CD-ROM are read only. You cannot or move files over to this CD-ROM drive"
The disk is not in a read only drive. Any disk I try receives the same message.
Normally if I write click on this drive in My Computer I get the option to Format the disk which I am prepared to do - but I'm not being given the option.
How do I format a DVD+RW through DOS
A file called 'Non-allocatable space' has appeared on each disk.
    Any clues?

Hmm your using XP to do the formatting, I would suggest downloading a CD/DVD writing software package like CopyToDVD (just get the demo version) and use that to erase the DVD+RW. Inside that program under the action menu you have an erase option choose full or quick [quick just erases the TOC, full wipes the entire disc].

I dont use XP's built in feature and never have but if the option to finalize a disc is their and was ticked then that could be why it wont right to the disk so the easiest thing to do is erase the disc.

If that doesnt work could be that the disc is faulty perhaps DVDRW's do degrade with constant use.

I had run Hijack This to get rid of BHOs that were messing up my IE and I must have also removed an item called Drive Letter Access which has come back after a system restore.
    Thanks
