try searching for nes or snes homebrew sites. maybe they'll have what you want. I doubt that getting the source code (especially nintendo code) is legal.

[\edit]This site has some info on programming the NES and others: http://www.zophar.net/tech/ (no illegal links, dont worry)

Well i was just wondering has any one ever tried to make a sort of expansion for all those beloved games like Megaman X and FF6 ,... and basically i was just wondering how you would go about it

Just let me state first that I have never coded a game but I've come across enough game hacks to have an idea of what they're about. Without having the source code it would be tricky but you can mess around with the level designs, change the sprites etc using a hex editor on the compiled program. It's a lot of hit and miss though but I'd say it could be fun if you have the time
