    Hi,
I'm in the market for a camera and looking on Ebay. Unfortunately a lot of the auctions don't have any mention of shipping outside the US.

What happens if you win a bid on an auction where it says the likes of "Will ship to United States"/"United States Only"/"United States or Canada" does anyone know?

What are there responsibilites as a seller if I win and what are mine if I knowingly bid on an item that has no mention of International shipping?

Is it easy to cancel an item you won the bid for or what are the implications for doing so?

    Any feedback appreciated:)

Press the 'Ask Seller a Question' button, type in 'Will you ship to ireland, if so, how much?' - await the reply and problem solved.

Ask for the cheapest postage to ireland. If you do get stung for customs you have to pay duty & vat on the postage which can often be more than the product.

    Thanks for the replies.

Asking the seller a question isn't an option as the auctions I was looking at, my search was for ones ending within an hour, I wanted to get a good bargain, and I don't place a bid till the last minute either;)

I ended up winning an Auction from a seller who has "ships worldwide" anyway. I just hope it's a good camera now, I know nothing about them:o

The American sellers can be dicky about sending to Ireland.

I'd never bid on their items unless they say they will ship (unlike UK sellers who you know will ship anyways) . Its often the case that even the ones who do ship will have vastly inflated postage compared to the rates they charge to the US.

    Hi

Have a look at http://www.shopthestates.com the item is post to them and they will post to you/

Some sellers also required a Paypal verified address so the address in you paypal acc. needs to be the same as the shipping address.

http://www.shopthestates.com also have Buying Service but I don't think they cover auctions.

I never used them but I think someone in boards did.

    Regards

Thanks for the link, I've heard of them before myself and they seem to get good reviews:) Thankfully I wont be needing them this time though! Less hassle:)

Cormie- I saw you were looking for items shipping to Ireland in another thread, a better bet is people who ship to the UK. Many mention UK but not worldwide, and rarely specifically ireland. Reason is they do not want the hassle of non-english speakers and many in the US just think the UK is the only other country that speaks "american" ;)
They also do not want the usual dodgy buyers from certain countries.

90% when I email a US guy sending only to the US they will ship to ireland 99% of the time a person willing to send to the UK will send to ireland.

I would not bid on anything without knowing the shipping first. I am not sure of the consequences if you pull out after the seller quotes a ridiculous price for shipping.

Many sellers do hang around in the last hour awaiting last minute questions.

    Thanks for that:)

I ended up winning an auction on an item that stated "Will ship Worldwide" so it wasn't an issue in the end:)
