Can anyone help with files I seem to have lost. We were working on Quark files on a Mac and saving them on a PC. When we went to work on the files they disappeared. Can anyone give advice in plain language, is there a file recovery system on the Macs, Im not very technical. PLEASE HELP.

Well what happened to them? Did you delete them? Did you move them? Yes, there are recovery programs out there, but finding out what you did to it will help.

Im not exactly sure, to be honest it was the graphice designers in the office. I believe we are all on the one network, half on PCs and half on Macs. As far as I know all info is stored on the server through the main PC. We have some kind of common desktop system where I can go into a window and pick up files that someone else in the office has dropped there. The files in question were Quark files from a Mac saved on our server through the main machine which is a PC. I know that transferring Mac Quark files to a PC can destabilise the files but this system has worked without hitch until now. I believe they saved the files as normal but went to retrieve them next morning there was no sign of them. Any suggestions would be grateful, Im not too technical myself hence the lack of technical information.

There are programs out there, but they aren't cheap. In the mean time, try to avoid writing to the drive to increase the chance of getting the info back. Is the drive FAT of NTFS? There's a program i've used several times called GetDataBacl, they have a version for Mac and PC. Have a look into that.
