Having problems syncing my H10 to windows media player!

The computer won't recognise the removeable device. Does anyone know how to get this to work with my computer?

Have you tried a different USB port? Sometimes it can be that simple. Also- make sure the battery is well charged. If you continue to have problems, go back to the store you bought it from.

    with the H10?

If not, you probably have to upgrade the H10s firmware (go to iriver.com). I got a H10 last summer and had to upgrade the firmware of the player to make it MTP compatible (Media Transfer Protocol - needed for the player to work with Media Player 10).

Otherwise the player is locked into the crap iRiver Plus software.

So - you need to make sure your firmware is updated and that you have Media Player 10 installed (it won't work with WMP9).

Alternatively, you can make the player UMS (that's allow you to drag and drop files in and update the directory listings with a tiny programme. there are other threads on this).

Note: Make sure you update with the right firmware. You have a US H10. Is it 5/6 or 20 gigs?

    20 gb!

I'll have to upgrade to WMP 10!

I had the same problem and couldn't resolve it.

I also bought my player in the US. All I had to do was ring iRiver America and they gave me a few thngs to try and when they didn't work they gave me an RMA and I sent it back. It was returned repaired to me in less than two weeks.
They are a big ignorant on the phone but the turnaround is excellent.

A good site for iRiver H10 stuff is

If this happens to anyone all you have to do is connect your iriver to the USB then open Device Manager, look for the H10 and there should be a yellow exclamation beside it, right click this and update driver, you'll need the disc that came with it.

    Works a charm! :D
