Just won the $100 rebuy on stars for 11.6k!!! Did a deal heads up, taking 10.6k, the other guy got 10k, then played for a grand which I got! SWEEEEEEEET:D :D:D:D:D:):D:)

Played really well the whole way through, but got some nice cards too. It's such a great tourney, that and the $50 rebuy on at 8.15 are so winnable. KP just got nailed on the final table of that with KK v 33 all in preflop, :( . Ugly.

Well there you go anyway, had to put it up, totally chuffed!!!!!!!!

    Have you played there before??

For the most part it's a totally different ball game.

(not suggesting you're not good enough)

It took me a while to get in to stars but now I much prefer it. I think I did about 2k or so before I started winning, mainly in the wsop satellites, but recently I've been doing great on it.

People say the standard is higher than other sites, but I don't think this is necessarily the case. There are definitely some good players there but it's not as much of a minefield as PPP or prima or other networks. The structures are also MUCH MUCH better than any other site I've played on, so if you're a winning tournament player this should really suit you gholimoli. Give it a shot, it takes a while to get used to but it's definitely got the most money on it, and I think it is the site that is most similar to the sort of players you'll encounter in live tourneys.

The $100 rebuy starts at 7.15 gmt, and the $50 starts at 8.15 gmt. I think it's different on weekends. 1st prize in these tourneys is rarely under 9/10k.

    another question about stars...

whats the structure for STT's...? cant find anywhere that beats the tribeca stuff, i.e. 2k starting chips, decent blind increases, and 3,8, or 12min blinds.
(should this be in another thread? osrry Daithio!! well done again!)

Nah I don't think so. Was toying with the idea of getting together the cash to go to Monte Carlo and I had a couple of generous offers, but it's still €10,000, which is an awful lot to spend on one tourney. Gonna concentrate on the Irish Open I think, I might even do a bit of study for my finals at some stage.

12 minute blinds with 1500 starting AFAIK. The standard in these is definitely higher than tribecca though, but you don't have to wait as long for a game.

i'm guessing you;re not talking about the €300+€30 game... i gots me eyes on that so do!!!

i suppose you'd almost be better off playing the irish open and next years dublin EPT and still have some money left over than one go at the Monte Carlo event..

Might have to give Stars a go too, but dont like the idea of playing against good players! :p

I think the standard is alot higher, and playing there has really developed my game, I agree the structures are fantastic which also suits my style.

The reason I asked had he played there before was he will have an adjustment period.

Yeah there is definitely an adjustment period. I think the players are probably better overall, but I personally don't mind playing against slightly better players. You can make moves on stars that you'd never get away with on other sites, and things like utg raises are respected. You don't see as many free chips flying around, but you also don't get nearly as many ridiculous calls as you do on other sites, and so there are less outdraws.

Top drawer daithio, many congrats, as you have been saying in your post's it seemed as tho it has been coming tho!

have to agree with all the comments about stars, there are some good players and all but you should be backing yourself against them and with the best tourney structure out there it's a dream site!

    congrats again!

just cashed out of my first stars tourny.
i had no idea what it was,it was the weirdest tourny ever.
$100 buy in and it was 45 ppl.
only 5 players at my table and no one came or went till they were out.
i won my table eventually when got heads up and i thought to my self that wasnt 45 ppl.then i got moved to anothe table.i had no idea that at this atage i had already won some money:D
eventually i went out in this second table but them tell me i won 500.
not bad for not even knowing it.

    Another devastating display by Dave.

He texted me yesterday afternoon and told me he was going to win BOTH the $100 rebuy and the $50 rebuy on 'Stars last night!

I thought to myself, that's a bit greedy, so I made a point of getting home from dinner just in time for the start of the $50 rebuy (8.15pm), got Dave on MSN and told him he could take down the $100er but that he would have to make do with 2nd in the $50er.

I watched him win the $100er pretty much from start to finish (missed the first hour) and I can tell you he made some quite brilliant plays. One or two really daring stop and goes and a couple of really clever raises. Just as Dave sealed the deal in the $100er, I was chip leader with 20-ish left in the $50er.

I played sub-optimally in the latter stages of the tournament and although I was ultimately unlucky to lose yet another FT hand in which I am a massive favourite (KK v 33, all-in pre-flop ... my cowboys hold up and I'm in 2nd place, instead I'm out in 9th for $500 when 1st was paying $9k), I don't feel I deserved to win last night.

I lost concentration for a couple of hands when I had the lead, made two silly mistakes, which took me out of "the zone" and also brought me back into the pack. Then, having lost the lead, I didn't play as aggressively as I might when we were shorthanded (from last 12 down to FT).

Anyway, I will be back, maybe later today, maybe tomorrow, but I will be back stronger and I have to win soon. Been ****ed by 4/1 shots at 7/7 FTs in last 10 days!

Well done again though Dave (you jammy bar steward)!
Really enjoyed the evening's poker ... and scrabble! ;)
