    http://ukhdtv.net/news/hdtv/exclusive:_sky_hd_pricing.html
    Box £299
    HD sub £9.99

Though he does say it is a "strong rumour" rather than fact.

The £9.99 seems a bit odd to me. Don't they normally go for round numbers, like the £10 for multiroom and for Sky+?

9.99 include Sky Sports and Movies?

for that reason alone i'd say its only a rumour and nothing more

9.99 ON TOP OF Sports & Movies, almost certainly.

Thats insane! I already pay €60 a month. Surely they won't charge the pepole who already have the top package?

I'm still baffeled asto what this price is going to relate to. Lets say that I was on 2 mix and selected news and kids but paid for HiDef. What benefit would I recieve? it apperas to me that to recieve the full benefit of the current Hidef lineup you would need to subscribe to sky world already. I doubt that you will get sky sports HD and movies HD without already subscribing to the sports or movies package. However, maybe Sky are presuming that people who have HD tv's and are willing to pay for sky HD, will have or are willing to have sky world.

it wont matter what they do. there will always be subscribers

Well, what the article doesn't mention and would be interesting to find out, is if the monthly subscription will include the price of Sky+?

The new SkyHD box is actually a special Sky+ PVR. There were recent rumours that Sky were going to amke the Sky+ boxs free, with the basic subscription, while the SkyHD would become the new premium service.

Since about 1/2 the HD will be sport and movies, you need them.

    Those prices seem about right.

If my memory serves correctly, then sky+ cost exactly the same when it first arrived in the UK.
If they are right and the box is 450 here and 15 a month, i will get it on top of my sports world package, bringing my monthly bill to just under 70.

After spending over 2 grand on a HD ready tv i am not going to quibble over 15 euro a month!!.

So looks like the HD output is a couple of American channels and Sky's own premium channels. What's the story with the UK terrestrials?

A SKY sales executives dream customer. That's exactly what they love to hear.

    I think i'll wait.
I saw how fast the price of Sky+ came down, so wont be getting this at the start.
£300 for the box is just too much.

    Sky premium channels
    Sky One
    Discovery channels
    National Geographic

BBC will be going HD in the near future, AFAIK.

A couple of Discovery channels (not all)
A few of Sky's premium channels
    National Geographic.

BBC is only starting tests this spring/summer. They arn't sure yet what they are doing. Probabily no UK HDTV till next year.

Telewest have HDTV running already, but only the two same repeated programs :( They will have much the same lineup as Sky.

On 19E a couple of FTA German channels and a few Premire Direckt Pay channels this spring.

Really next year is start of HDTV. HD players of disks are delayed over DRM system wrangling. Maybe this summer. Again there is a VHS/Betamax factor. Wait till next year an either get a player that does both (incompatible) HD disk formats or which ever one "wins".
