Ok so Mikado is down still yeah but why don't the society start doing other events for their members. I know the main thing for mikado is the online forums but can't they still have other events even if the forums are temporarily down.

*does a deep dive into the nearest pool*

Here comes the flames!!!

I agree though, just because the boards are down does not mean that other events can't be looked at. It is after all a *social* society, for people to chat to other people and so on, never mind flame, insult, denigate, ridicule, postulate, preach, argue, and mock, other people. Oh and there's drivel, too, I suppose.

Mikado needs a wake. i.e. a big booze up to remember the best bits and give out about all that went wrong and whether marco polo threads were that bad at all and whether Smiler should return as 'benevolent' dictator if the boards resurrect themselves.

Anyhew, the soc needs something to give it a reason to continue beyond the acropolis... er apocalypse. :D

I miss Mikado for the fighthing amongst people I don't know....they were usually sitting next to eachother too....

Out of curiosity where did most of the Mikado people go? Cause they're not on here. Bebo, Myspace etc?

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Is this some new use of the nominative case of the first-person plural pronoun that I was not previously aware of?

they pron.jpg ( P ) Pronunciation Key (thamacr.gif)
pron.
1. Used to refer to the ones previously mentioned or implied.
2. Usage Problem. Used to refer to the one previously mentioned or implied, especially as a substitute for generic he: Every person has rights under the law, but they don't always know them. See Usage Note at he1.
1. Used to refer to people in general.
2. Used to refer to people in general as seen in a position of authority.

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

heh, I probably made that too complicated.
An easier read would be:
they
"ahh this must be some new use of the word 'we' that I was not aware of"

Oh I know exactly what you meant. I just took it literally that you had trouble understanding the concept of "they", meaning what I quoted in my earlier post and not "we" or even "you" or "twat".

Some moved to myspace and are busy laughing at americans believing in invisible red dragons, astral projection and the end of the world in 2012.

Bebo sucks. thanks for wasting twenty minutes of my life lolly parton.

so anyway back to the topic and why don't they arrange events for members cos just cos the boards are down doesn't mean we're not still members of the society for this year anyway.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 346 ✭✭trekkypj

I don't know but I'm sure someone will explain.

Eventually.

Incidentally, I've heard Mikado refered to as "The Temple of Elemental Evil"... :D
