Everytime I bring an image into my word document it only shows a section of it. Any tips, I need to get this done tonight!!

Is the image too close to the edge of the document, maybe the margins are blocking off portions of the image?

Probably because the image is bigger than the page you can resize the image by hovering over the the corner of the image until the resize icon appears and then resize the image by clicking and dragging. I can help you do this via remote access if youd like just pm me

    Cheers

The image is small enough to fit on the page. The bit I am seeing is the very end of the picture running horizontally across the screen.

Thanks for the offer of remote acces but without trying to sound like James Bond it's a private document.

Still need help. Could be a late, late night!

I know this might sound silly but are you viewing the image at 100%, sometimes if you have the image above or below 100% it can seem distorted when you look at it when in reality its not.

Other than that im not too sure exactly what you mean, my best advice would be to take a screenshot and blot out any things that maybe private if this is possible and post it here, a picture can speak a thousand words.

Keep us updated and try to explain a bit more, where are you importing the image from, have you used file and import to get it into word or have you just copied and pasted it, what size is the image and how much of the picture is distorted, have you tried resaving the original image with another format eg gif, png, jpg and then tried importing it or have you rescaled the image before importing it???

Hey dvdfan, thanks for getting back to me. I've tried most of what you've suggested but no joy. I can see the full image in layout view though.
Do I need a program to take a screen shot?

Just noticed something. The margin/ruler is only covering a small part of the document but when I open another word file it stretches the whole length?

Try moving the margin and that should reveal the rest of the image.

Do you know why the margin was set like that?

    Just confirm these two steps:

    1) Goto the view menu and click on PRINT LAYOUT

then check and see if there is still a problem

    2) Then goto the view menu (top of the page) and goto ZOOM and make sure 100% is selected and click ok

Have you still got this problem, im saying this because its a problem that you see in one view and not another. Also if you have a printer try printing it out, is the problem showing up there??

Also what do you need to do when you have this doc finished, email it, print it etc???

It's on print layout already and is on 100% zoom too.

When I paste or import a jpeg or gif in outline view it works no problem, then when I go back to print view it's back to the same problem. The document is for printing.

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I'm using another document as a template. It does stuff like automatically insert page numbers etc. Make a difference?

On that note about page numbers, maybe its something in your header and viewer.

go to view menu again and click on header and footer. This will bring up a dotted area near the top and bottom of the page and this could be blocking the image. If the image appears fairly close to either the header or the footer try deleting everything in either the header or the footer and seeing if that helps. You can use the undo tool to undo it if you want the page numbers to show up again.

Also have you tried highlighting everything in the document and copying and pasting it into a new document.

Also have you tried printing it and does it show up distorted on the print

The cut and paste option didn't produce anything different. The header and footer issue was a little different. It didn't make a difference but for some reason when I pasted the image into the header it worked fine!

I think I have it!! I selected the pic, opened the picture edit bar and hit the edit wrap points and it seems to be staying there! I just saved, reopened and it's still there.
Phew, I have to present this first thing in the morning for work!!

Major thanks to all and serious kudos to you dvdfan. Anytime you need a bowl of sugar you can knock on my door!:D

    I LOVE BOARDS!!!!!!!!!
