Anyone know where in Dublin a fellow can rent a cheap tux for Friday night? Blacktie charge 79.99 which I pretty steep imho.

    Thanks.

Charity shops sometimes have good suits that you can buy...

Yeah I'd vouch for the charity shop. Bought one for €40 and it is perfect. Otherwise buy one in M&S.

Burtons in the jervis centre rent them for cheaper than black tie.

Tango's in Temple Bar are cheaper too and much friendlier.
Its also where the Irish soccer team seem to get theirs.

I'd recommend just buying an ex-rental tux. They replace them so often in the rental shops that they sell them off-relatively cheaply and they are in perfect condition. Even if you go to two events in the next few years, you'll make your money back! Just ring around places in the golden pages and ask for their prices.

If you can spare an extra €100, head down to "Suits You" in Rathdowney Outlet centre. They currently have new tux's - with free shirt and bow tie - for either €150 or €180. Might be worth a call first to check they have your size.

Alternatively, I have bought a tux on Ebay before (get measured in Blacktie or somewhere first), works out about €180-200, but you will also need to buy a shirt and bow-tie.

The price of rental today is 40-50% of buying new, so for the price of two and a bit rentals you have s suit for years - its not as if blacktie will every "go out of fashion".
