Idea for tipsters

Apologies if this has been suggested before. How about including the record for your tipping in each post? Say I recommend a horse at 3/1 and it wins, I put Record: +3 at the bottom of my post. Say the next one loses, I'd put Record: +3 -1 (signifing the lost bet) etc. Perhaps one might find it only significant to show the last 20 or something, not sure.

I think it would be interesting to follow the ups and downs...

Keeping a running total would be best way, show overall profit/loss at reccommended stakes in terms of points, using SP values +10%.

    I think it's a good idea.

On some other forums, there is a challenge using a mythical bank.

For example you start off with a mythical €1000. A target is set.

You then post your selections, recording the daily profit and loss, and see if you can double/treble your bank over time. It is not as easy as it looks!

Something like that would be fun here, it works well at other forums. Sorts out the wheat from the chaff so to speak:)

I agree. If your posting tips on a regular basis you should keep a running total.

I personnally feel that would be pointless and the only people who would benefit are those who don't contribute to the forum. People would just pop in and see who has a good profit and take their selections.

Unless of course a subscription fee was introduced to view the selections.:D

If the OP and others are keen on this idea why don't they start the ball rolling?

I think it would put too much pressure on those who "tip". Actually I don't even regard it as tipping, but more suggesting and giving honest opinions...

ANd provided you check out the forum enough you'll know the complete wasters from the hot-shots

Well I don't mind posting selections, even if the results are going to be embarrissing for me. At the end of the day when you post a tip you can't see the betting before the off which is all important plus you may decide to back different horses in same or different races later on but I do think it would be intersting and would attract a lot more people to the forum!:D

I will do it if another 2 or more agree to do the same.

Actually the $1000 bank is a good idea for a bit of fun. Wonder is there a way to differentiate someone who goes for one lucky bet for $1000 and wins, from someone who's been tipping reasonably for months and has moved up to $1900 (90% profit woo!). That's why I was suggesting showing a form like thing, but starting with an imaginary amount sounds more interesting ...

Ok then, if nobody minds, id open a new thread with a mythical €1000 and see if I can treble it.

    Ok?

Trebling would be spectacular result. But maybe that's the way to do it, everyone who wants to starts a thread called <user>'s treble challenge, and that way it's easy to keep the progress together for each person... Wonder would it make the board too messy though?

Definately read the above if considering taking part in a 3k challenge. Obviously we don't want to make the board difficult for people to read.
