I am proposing that you should be entitled to a half day from work when you have to do your NCT test.... since the government are making you do it surely they you should be entitled to time off to do it rather than docked pay or have to make up the hours.

    What ya reckon?

Book your test for a Saturday. Simple.

They could easilly argue that the NCT is a pre-condition to drive a car over four years-old, so you have the option of not driving at all, buying a car under 4 years, or going through the test to ensure it isn't a threat. I personally want to see safer roads and agree with the policy.

Pity they don't take the driver license issue so seriously. What's the point of having road-worthy cars driven by unlicensed drivers with no notion of rules of the road or an understanding of what causes accidents?

So you'd be in favour of everyone else getting a half day then to sit on their arse because they don't have a car? :)

My first test was for a Saturday. Failed that for a dodgy headlight but I got a re-test at 5.30pm on the Monday week, so I just left work at 4.30.

Which brings to mind another issue.... Smokers who take a couple of breaks during the day to go outside for a smoke.... why are they entitled to breaks when non smokers are not.

Hmm... could we also get sickies when other people get sick? Maybe also paternity leave (actually dad's don't get leave, so make it maternity leave)... :D

You can also do them sundays or evenings (up untill 8:30 I think), that may vary from centre to centre, not sure.

Non-smokers are entitled to breaks, don't blame smokers because ye don't take them. :p
