There is no legislation prescribing a fee for a Peace Commissioner's signature.

Then again, there is no legislation saying that they cannot charge.

In reality they seem to charge EUR 3 per signature, but what is the legal position.

No replies, maybe people don't know what a peace commissioner is, I didn't either until I needed to get a parking permit.

Hmmmm, from this site http://oasis.gov.ie/justice/general/peace_commissioners.html, it seems to suggest that there is no fee as you say. Maybe it's just some administrative fee for paper and overheads etc?

i work in a solicitors firm and the peace commissioners don't charge around here. guess its up to them.

the Commissioner for Oaths fee is a serious one €10 per signature - if two people have signed something they get €20 for witnessing!! think i wanna become one of them!!

If there is an exhibit (eg a marriage cerrtificate attached to a Family Law Declaration) there is a further charge of €5 per signature.

An exhibit costs €2 to have sworn not €5.

Any human of sound mind who is not a beneficiary can witness a will.
