Is there any way you can do this from a 6230 because if getting software updated or a problem fixed all the phones memory is wiped...

I think it has an IR port, right? If so, and you've a laptop with an IR adapter, you could back up the texts via a program called MobilEdit. It's free to use for backing up stuff, although you can't restore unless you pay its registration fee. My brother successfully used it with a 6030.

Thanks. Its not a big deal, not worth spending money on really, and I dont have an IR port on my laptop, although my 7 year old Toshiba did! Any other free methods?

    Cheers for the links.
