Hmmm, I've been thinking about attempting this after reading this thread from last week: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054890728

I haven't been putting in as many hours as I'd like on the poker the last week or two and I think this challenge could be a good way to get me back on track. It's 31 days because I'm thinking of doing it in March.
I'm only going to play $2/$4 tables, what do you think can it be done? I might be willing to accept some wagers to make it a bit more interesting.

If PPP want to offer up a bonus of a few K's if I do it, as with the 5 in a row STT challenge, that's fine by me too. :D

I doubt it could be done. An average of over 3 buyins per day, doubt it.

What br would you start with?

I'll give you a million if you can do this

31 days, 1k a day. Thats 250bbs. The most a player can earn (assuming he is really really good and runs well would be about 20bb/100 hand at $2 $4, so thats 1250 hands per day. 65 hands per hour (not sure about this) is about average, so thats a total of 19 hours playing time a day. So if you 4 table thats only 5 hours poker a day.

So in summary, i think its possible but unlikely; rather than Amarus challenge which was nigh on impossible.

I'd be up for a bet, but it wouldn't be much for someone earning $365k a year tax free.

I'll give you 2-1 on that bet. You can bet up to €1000.

I know for a fact that $30k+ can be made playing 6 handed at 2/4 and 3/6 in a month. And of course another crucial difference between fast machine's proposal and amaru's is that fast machine can actually play a bit :) I think you can do it machine and would like to see you try. Should be fun.

Where is Amaru these days anyway?

Did Amaru pay up on his bet in the end? Did he stop posting here for any reason (the last I can remember of him is the 'Gigabet,HJ,ABC,you're an idiot' thread round about the first week in Jan).

EDIT. Damn you ShelsBohsman, beat me to it.

    He did pay up.
If Delaney and Oily have their way it will be ShelBohrneman.

I heard something about Atlas asking him to hold the world on his shoulders for just a few seconds until he could put it back more comfortably and then running off shouting "suckerrrr".

Bankroll isn't really an issue for this challenge, I'm covered for higher levels but I'm not planning to move up anytime soon.
I'll have to have a think about the bets. I don't want it to be too much in case it would have an affect on my play. It might be relatively small compared to the final tally but it'll lead to added pressure and there'll be enough of that already. Ian, If you want to give me 2-1, I might go to €500, I'll see over the next few days.
Timewise, I'd say it'll work out at more than 5 hours a day, extra hours will have to be played to make up for negative/break-even sessions and for the odd day off.
The way I see it, even if I don't hit 31K, this challenge should motivate me to put in serious hours so it'll still be a nice profit.

Do you use PT? Do you have any idea of your winrate?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 268 ✭✭FastMachine

I haven't used PT, when I tried downloading it, it seemed to have been removed so I don't know my winrate. I was averaging just over €1000 a day for two weeks at one stage in January though so it's a matter of seeing if I can run like that again and sustain it for a whole month.

Are you including rakeback in this, or purely winnings?
