Hi Guys, does anyone know what the right spur gear/clutch bell combination I should use to get my Savage to wheelie?
I have a nitrostar s25 engine, with a 13 tooth clutch bell and a 52 tooth spur gear.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

hey, em ok... spur gear(s.g) clutch bell (c.b)
if you keep the same sized s.g and got a smaller c.b you would have faster acceleration and so wheelie...i think, or if you keep same size c.b and get bigger s.g same effect is given! ...jeez physics student and i still had to check a pm to make sure that was right!!!

Thanks NLC t's appreciated :) I have the highest spur gear and lowest clutch bell as far as I know. maybe it's a tuning issue ....

Ok my savage wheelies absolutely no problem on Grass, but not on concrete/tarmacadm.... I even got her in to 2nd gear while wheelie-ing earlier this morning it was FAB!, but still nothing on concrete/tarmacadm.
any thoughts guys? I know this is probably nothing more than simple physics, but I can't understand why, I mean if anything i get more traction on a hardened surface :/

hey, i thought i pressed "post this" b4 but it didnt show up..so i think it may be because of the lack of friction on grass as the car throws itself back when accelerated, so on grass the front wheels hae little grip and there is more "thrown back" so on tarmac there is good friction so there is more put into the front wheels and less going back!! could make no sense or be irrelevant but i think its right

i didnt entirely understand you thee nlc but i think it is: there is more grip on the grass do give it something o push of? and there is slight weel spinish action on the road (its concrete, trucks with those tires arnt really for the raod) am i right at all?:v:

    About the doing wheelies thing.
    I don't have a MT so this is theoretical - but ....

If you were to move the centre of gravity a few millimeters towards the rear, popping wheelies would be easier, or to put it another way, it would lift it's nose with less torque/power.

Anyone tried sticking a small bit of lead on the back bumper?

sounds like a good way to do it never thought of it like that

    hmm good idea N

I would guess that a more forward CG balance would increase ground effect for best speed, and too far back CG would make it horribly unstable.
There would have to be a "sweet spot" 5mm-15mm variation - probably more forward on rougher surface, and more rearward on smooth.
It was Tallus's mention of wheelies on concrete that made me think about it, but I haven't direct experience there.
I bet the competition guys play with this setting to get it optimised.

Ok, weirdly enough... took the savage out for a bash earlier this afternoon and it wheelied a couple of times on tarmac.... I'm stumped heh

maybe its just the engine, the more u use it the more responsive its getting? or torky (i know its not a word :p)

was actually thinking that myself dude :)... time will tell I mean it wheelied maybe three times on concrete and almost any time I try on grass.
