    Just out of curiosity
If one has a UK/Irish $ky dodgybox connected to an LNB/dish (not a minidish obviously) pointed at 13 East would the digibox pick up the EPG for $ky Italia once they change the default transponder ?

Does the $ky Italia EPG list all the channels on Hotbird or just the italian stuff ?

not only that but Sky Italia uses a different encryption scheme to what is used over here. AFAIK they use ViaAccess, but I think some channels use VideoGuard or both.

Isn't the epg in the box software? It doesn't matter where you point the dish or even if you have an italian card.

Completely secure too. Sky Italy had a problem with viaccess. They binned it.

The EPG -data- isn't, neither is the channel listing.

It's an interesting question. I may be getting an old box fixed this week so I will see.

Sky bought out an operator in Italy, till they could get all the boxes replaced they used dual encryption. Allegations were made that the compromised encryption causing huge piracy for ITV OnDigital and two Italian operators was reverse enineered by a lab funded by Newscorp, Sky's Sister/parent company. Canal+ took them to court but hte action was never fought as Sky bought Italian opereations above the market value and Canal+ withdrew the case.

Sky ROI and SKY is EXCATLY the same box, and SW just different epg data. Sky italia is excatly the same box. So a "new install" in Services 4 0 1 select or power on forced update (both after changing default transponder).

But which is the default on 13E? Multiple transponders but not all (just like here) have the list of all transponders. (Usefull to auto add all transponders on a FTA box).

The default transponder on the Italian boxes is 11880 V 27500 3/4
Italian cards are not recognized in UK/Irish digiboxes and vice versa. I know for certain because I have both systems.
    regards
    D.
