Control Panel - Add / Remove Programs

Ashampoo It is a prog that will remove programs, but it needs to be there when they are installed to work properly

having programs installed doesnt really make the computer run slower. its having them all start with the computer that slows it down.

click start->run. type msconfig. click on the startup tab and uncheck everything you dont need. just leave anti-virus and firewall. anything else can be started as you need it. personally i dont even have an anti-virus running.

sometimes when you open the offending programs again they put themselves back in the registry as starting with the computer. if that happens, go into the options of the program and look for a "start with windows" option and uncheck it

Seems if you have unticked everything you have also removed your antivirus from start up

You need to look through the items, and decide what you want to start up. There are some things that start up to help the computer run smoother, or stuff that you actually want, Virus, MSN Outlook ETC.
