Live Game Virgin......

I have reasonable online experience and won a golden ticket to play in PPP Open in April on last weeks qualifier. Problem is I have never played live...not too concerned but obviously need to sharpen up real time skills before the big one. What is the best club to play in? Listening to people the Fitz appears more user friendly to beginners than Merrion....I think I will play Drogheda even if I cannot qualify as Wed/Thurs are bad for me.

    Any advice out there?

    Ray:confused:

Assuming you are a Dublin local I'd recommend the Sporting Emporium.
The Merrion is very welcoming aswell but its very Cliquey. It sometimes feels like a home game that you weren't supposed to be invited too. People talking about their illnesses and hemroids when you're in the middle of a hand!! Bad beat stories are rife too.

Other than that I would tell you to try a Pub tournament such as the one in the Anglers on a friday but with no dealers and a few drunken mistakes I'd probably go to the casino's first so you get used to the proper rules of Live games before you get any bad habits in the pub games.

play in at least 2 games a week between now and then. go to the Vegas nights games tomorrow night and sunday at 1pm in the Anglers Rest.

play in any of the Fitz and SE and Merrion games, just be comfortable with the buy in so you can concentrate on getting a feel for the game.

get out there, bring ID, and enjoy yourself.

gl. the tourney details are on this site and on antes up

Do the freeroll once maybe - just to get you into live mode. Don't use this as a base for live play though. Play the Friday night scalps, and the monday and tuesday games for better experience.

    Good luck.

it only seems like yesterday i was going into my first fitz freeroll! Yeah i'd recommend the fitz over the merrion if you're new. the merrion can be startlingly unfriendly sometimes
