recently found an old USB headset (logitech) and decided to give it a go online. well, it works grand, but i'm wondering is there anyway to not have the sound go into the earpiece, and just have the sound coming out of my monitor or headphones as per usual, while having the headset working?

USB headsets usually work by emulating their own sound card, so you'd probably need the driver disk for it. This also puts the burden of sound processing on the cpu, and makes your sound card redundant.

Another alternative is just get a desktop mic. For playing BF2 online I hated having the headset on and as you say having the sound only coming from the earphones, so found a good desktop mic worked out alot better.

bah. may have to give the desktop mic thing a go. i never considered using a mic and/or headset before until i gave it a quick try earlier and found talking to people inspires teamwork, but having a direct feed of low quality sound into one ear sucks ass

USB desktop mic, perfect for any game really.

Then headphones for sound or spekaers if SHE not in the room.
