if your on a budget and upgrading its not to bad, but if i were upgrading (and wanted an intel chip) then i would get the new presler core

    Intel Pentium D 920 2.8GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan

    MSI 945P Platinum, I945P, Socket-775 Firewire,SATAII,ATX,GbLAN,DDR2,PCI-Ex16

    Corsair Value S. PC4200 DDR2 1024MB Kit w/two matched Value Select 512MB

    total €546

    Or a much better option

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz Socket 939 1MB, BOXED w/fan

    Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9, nForce4-4x,ATX, Socket-939, 4xSATA,GbLAN,Firew, PCI-Ex16

    TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB Dual Pack Kit w/two matched PC3200 DDR DIMMs

    €520

AMD chips don't support DDR2 memory (until M2 is released). Neither do the motherboards.
