Ok, these are just a few I've taken since I got my SLR a couple of months ago. Any advice is welcome. Thanks guys!!

The first was taken today in Clontarf, The second a few nights ago at my friends gig (meant to be blurry), The third was taken at ChristChurch, the Pigeons loved this woman!!! I know there's a slight blur on it which annoys me, and the fourth was taken in bray with a really boring sky!

Yes, the third picture is pretty damn nice... looks like you got nice dof.. and the contrast is nice and clear..

On the fourth pic, all i can say is, damn, ye have some calm beaches on the east coast... seems like a very big lake...

I don't like the first one, crooked horizon, odd focus, and just generally unbalanced.

Second one is pretty decent, nice action shot, perhaps slightly less blurry would have been nice, did you use flash?

Third one is good, one thing I particularly like is the fact that the camera was tilted which gives a feeling of the woman trekking up a little hill. A mistake perhaps, but it adds a lot to the photo.

the last one is nice, however i think it would have been better vertical, u know? like so more foreground and more sky. Was this a crop of a bigger pic?

Look again. I think it IS uphill.

If she's who I think she is, she begs outside the church on Thomas St every day.

    Nice shot alright!

    Like the gig photo too.

The ladder is an interesting one. I'd retake it a few more times from different angles and settings.

lol, the third is brilliant. My favourite of the four. If i was to nitpick though, i'd chop off a centimeter or two of the top and bottom. The bottom right corner is a bit distracting, as is the very top. But that's just me being pedantic. Great shot!

    Thanks for the replies

Takeshi: The sea is Damn boring, makes for boring shots!! i took some of yhe waves and this:beer wave (about 5cm high) was the most exciting..mainly coz it looks like beer....!!!!

Shrimp: No I didnt use flash for that one (I find it can desaturate the colours too much), i would've deleted it under normal circumstances because of the blur, but in this case i think it adds to it.
And the other one isn't a crop, thats how it was taken, thanks for the input.

Zillah: Thanks, and yeah, i think it was a hill!

Fajitas!:Thanks! yeah, i think thats the same lady, apparently she has cats too! I tried the ladder from a few different viewpoints but that one was my personal fave. I mite post another one or two of it.

Timay: Thanks, Someone else mentioned a similar crop, I might try it out. Thanks!!

May I suggest you use flash and have the shutter open slightly longer this way you will get a more definite image of the person plus it'll still be soft from the delayed shutter.

If you don't like the flash, try sellotaping some grease proof paper over it, try two layers, or as many as desired to tone down the brightness of the flash. or if u have an external flash, just get a flash cover.
