    As the title says!

Given the demise of my old band, I'd like to get back out ASAP. I don't have much gigging experience but have plenty of experience with working in a band environment. I've been playing for nearly four years now, with around a year and a half of that time in lessons (I even reached the almighty stage of level three with the Irish Drumming Academy ;)).

My influences are very varied. I like playing Classic rock, contemporary rock, anything progressive, blues, jazz (although I'm only getting started in this), post rock, bits and pieces of punk and heavy rock (not too much of a fan of playing metal, though).
My main influences as a drummer would probably be Neil Peart (Rush), Danny Carey (Tool), Jose Pasillas (Incubus) and John Bonham.
I'm also a big fan of the drum parts used by Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and I LOVE Josh Freese's work for A Perfect Circle.

Since we had a ridiculously hard time finding members for my last band, I think I'd rather join an already formed band looking for a drummer, rather than start a band from the ground up. That said, if the right people came along I'd consider starting a new band.

And some extra details about me: I'm 19 years old, living in Clonskeagh and going to UCD.

If you think you'd be interested in having me on board, reply here, drop me a PM or give me and email at cillians@gmail.com !

Edit: I don't have any decent samples of me playing with my old band, so any samples requested are going to consist of just me playing.

Great response so far! Just gonna give it a little nudge to see if there's any more interest

I recently managed to dig up some samples of me playing with my old band. Quality's not great on them, but they show the kinda parts I have written, and give some idea of my skill level. Just gimme an email if you'd like to hear them.

Also, to clarify, I'm not looking to join any types of indie bands.
    Thanks

I play guitar, I like your influences and would be interested in a few jams. I play bass too. I'm not particularly fantastic but alright none the less. I am in Tallaght have own transport and gear and that. Now the clincher! I am a good bit older than you at 35 but I dont see it as a problem myself. Written plenty of original material. Email me if you're interested,

    Cheers

Hey Cillian [snipped], I'm in knockmark's band^. We're short just a drummer and we've jammed once so far and a couple of originals are coming together nicely! We might veer just slightly on the metal side of emo or punk, by the sounds of us. So, yeah, let me know if you're interested! Answer my emails!!
    Cheers [snipped]

Hey Ro, sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I'm kinda narrowing my selection down at this stage and waiting to hear back from one particular band, really. I could be swayed though!
Any chance of you guys whipping together a track or two just so I could get an idea of how you sound?

Yeah we might be able to put something together...if not, I could give you a listen to some guitar stuff I've recorded on my own w/ drums programmed. I'll get back to you about that.

    That'd be cool Ro, cheers

Hey man if you wanna hear just my guitars with some drums programmed, you can listen at http://scousertommy.dmusic.com . The lo-fi streams aren't worth a damn there though, so you'll want hi-fi or download, like. But yeah, they're just pretty rough cuts, like...
Anyway, we'll most likely be jamming this thursday or saturday in town if you want to come and give it a try?
    cheers, ro

Hey Ro, sorry about missing the mail but I doubt I could've made it anyway. The stuff you've linked me to so far has intruiged me and I'd like to have a jam with you guys to see what you do with it all.
Got exams coming up soon, and projects due, but I'll certainly have an evening off in the first week of May, or after the 15th I'll be totally free.

Out of the influences listed in the other thread I'd be most familiar with Smashing Pumpkins, and only a bit at that. Don't know, or like, any emo either. Would that be a big problem?

Hey man, yeah it probably wouldn't have been a problem; we'd be aiming for a more progressive style anyway. But we actually already found a drummer and the match is a pretty good one, so thanks anyway man - Best of luck with the other bands you're looking into!
    cheers, Ro

We are a dublin based band in desperate need of a new drummer as we have gigs in Crawdaddy, Kennedys, The Hub, and the Voodoo Lounge in July. YOu can check out our music on Myspace.com/Vemorana , Although the demos there are not truly representative of our live sound. Godspeed... are a big influence on some of our extended jams, and we're looking for someone adventurous and tight to tie together the sprawling sounscapes we create. There are five of us (without a drummer) and we play a variety of instruments from trumpet, clarinet, violin, mandolin, accordion, through to theremin, Harmonophone, Synths and samplers. If you're interested contact us: Vemorana@gmail.com
