Why are online players so fricking rude?

I came back to ppp last night in hopes of winning a ticket to the open. After busting out in 20th in the feeder, I decided to stick around to play some stt. In the 3 hours that followed (as I bubbled out of everything :D), I was swore at nearly constantly. I admit that I laid down a couple of bad beats, but is the notion of just typing 'nh' and getting on with your life gone completely? As I said, I bubbled out a lot, mostly on the river, as you do, and just typed 'lol nh' and went on to the next $10 game. Yes, these were all $10 games, so it's not as if these people lost a fortune.

So, is it the nature of online pokering that everybody's in a bad mood? Or is it just that sad angry loners are the only ones playing online at that hour of a saturday night?

People are ruder online, simply because they know there's no change of a slap in the gob from the person they're being rude to. It's sad & regrettable, but there you go.

That's why playing live will always be better, at least for me. Apart from the whole thing of having to get out of your chair and go to the game, there's the interaction with the other players, the conversation & the giggles.

People are rude online in many places as well as online poker. Take it from me.

People are rude online because they think nothing can be done to bring their rude ignorant comments home to roost with them. This is why I insist on civility as much as possible on this site. And why I hunt down people who abuse it. :)

Online I just call the poker manager (on All In you can type "pokermanager" into the chat to summon one. On PPP you can chat directly with one).
Don't accept it, have them chat banned.

    DeV.

I think in general people are just rude. It's only cause we have to face each other that some people act nice when they dont care to do so.

And because you can't tell whether you just took a bad beat off a 16year old kid who doesn't know how to play the game, or a seasoned pro who caught you out, then you tend to believe it was the 16year old kid and curse your bad luck.
