Fixing a leak

This happens to me from time to time. Im out of position with a very strong hand, I bet and get raised. I dont really want to three bet because a) I dont have the nuts and would like a chance to get away from the hand should I be behind, and b) because three betting lets a lot of hands away cheaply that im currently beating. But when I flat call I always end up leaving plenty of money on the table

    Two examples.

Im on sb with K7. Everyone limps. Flop is k75. I bet and the sb raises me. We are both quiet deep so going all in is out of the question. Whats my plan for the hand.

Im on BB with Q7. The button limps, flop is QQT. I bet and get called. Turn is 7, i bet and get min raised. Again we are both deep and going broke to QT is not in my plan for this hand.

In hand 1 - are there any suits on board?

One line you can take is - call, and lead turn.

In hand 2 - go broke (but you can take the same line - call and lead river, if you like, but thats really obvious I think).

I like call and lead in the second hand. I don't think it's "too obvious" in the second hand, and you should be able to make a very big bet on the river and still be called by Qx. I can't see folding this hand at any point even with "deep" stacks.

In the first hand if you expect him to bet again with a worse hand a lot of the time, but will get away from all worse hands is you lead or if you checkraise, you could check call and maybe bet the river. I haven't played this game so I don't know if a lot of players do that, but in the games I have played this seems normal.

I don't know if you are really leaving money on the table. Do you expect your opponent to go broke with one pair here?

Hand 1. I don't think trying to extract more money on later streets is all that clever unless you can clearly identify your oponents hand. There's nothing wrong with taking a pot down early and the line between getting more out of the hand and letting your oponent catch up is relatively thin with 2 pair. I reraise the flop.

Hand 2: What does the min raise mean depending on the type of villaiin? I would call again and lead the river and if he raises again its a player dependend situation whether or not you want to go all in. Even against an obove average player smooth calling might be less profitable since QT would be very unusual. A lot of the time this could be just a defensive raise hoping to get to a showdown as cheaply as possible.

In hand 1 you reraised yourself? Or did you mean k7 was from the BB?

    1. For me i'd reraise.
    2. I'd call the min-raise and lead the river. You're only behind 2 hands right now. AQ, KQ are both equally likely holdings to QT/TT. He could think his AQ is miles ahead here, therefore he could be trying to milk.

Will he limp with AQ, 10 10 or 77? If so - you are sorted but its unlikely, depends on your read. There are a lot of hands where he thinks he is miles ahead here and only one hand that beats you. I dont know how you are going to differentiate between his action here holding 10 10 etc and his action holding Q 10.

It is hard to discuss your plan for the hand when you say going broke against Q 10 is not in your plan. Would you be willing to call an all in on the river? For me I am trying to get all my chips in here.....maybe 3xmin raise him back to see if he is comitted to the hand or if he was trying to see the river cheaply

Although we don't have the pot sizes, I think we're suggesting here that the pot size is very small when compared to the two stacks in question. What's implied then is that going all in (I'm sure that bluntness isn't being suggested, but just for illustration), might only be called by the nuts QT. Stepping back a bit, players with good hands like AQ may also resist being pot commited (if one made say a large raise into them). So because of the pot size relative to the stacks, it may be the case that only winning hands would call raises large enough to secure the pot.

It would be interesting to see the values in question though, I could definately see AQ making a play like that, or even hands like QJ.
