    MUSIKLAB LTD. LEAVE THE FORUM
It is with a certain amount of regret we, Musiklab LTD, have to announce our club-nights (Musiklab & Shakedown), the clubs resident DJ’s, our sound & light engineers, production & creative teams are all leaving The Forum Waterford after 5 years - with immediate effect.

Every cloud has a silver lining and from this Saturday (Feb 25th) Shakedown with Tommy Boy & DJ Louis on the decks, Stress & Laura on lights and Danny on visuals will start a new residency at The Bowery Club beside Reginalds Tower on The Mall. Doors will open at 11pm and it will be 10 euros as usual. As it’s the first night there are a few surprises lined up. We are looking forward to getting your feedback on the new venue for the club, as the aim is to make Shakedown better than ever. If you have any queries please e-mail luke@musiklab.net.

Bullit will continue as normal every Thursday night at The Bowery and upcoming Musiklab DJ gigs will be announced soon.

We would like to thank everybody for their support over the past five years and look forward to the next five.

    Hi,

firstly thanks for the support. Unfortunatly The Forum are advertising this Saturday night as 'The Last Shakedown @ The Forum'.

The only people who will be working at this that have been working at previous Shakedowns will be the bouncers and bar staff - no one actually connected with Shakedown

Everyone else shall be in The Bowery from this Saturday night Feb 25th. Apologies, but thats obviously out of our control.

    Luke

    Hi,

It has come to our attention that following our decision to leave The Forum last weekend, the venue issued a press release full knowing that Shakedown (& Musiklab) and DJs would not be in The Forum this Saturday night. All 3 local papers printed it. And 1 paper even pulled our press release.

In their press relese they say:

LIE - Shakedown is at The Forum this week
LIE - Its the last Shakedown
LIE - Tommy Boy & DJ Louis will be playing

    However here's some facts;

TRUTH - Shakedown will be at The Bowery from this week
TRUTH - It'll be there every Saturday night
TRUTH - Only here will you find Tommy Boy & Dj Louis

Please don't be deceived by by the Forums tactics, tell everyone you know, if this is the way The Forum wish to conduct their business then so be it. Is it any wonder we left?

As this will be our first night at The Bowery with Shakedown we have something cool lined up for you.

    Regards
    Luke

couldnt the Forum be done for false advertising?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 151 ✭✭lukemusiklab

I don't know what else is going on now. But you can be certai that Stage 2 will have some imitation of Shakedown.

They probably could get done for false advertising, but in the long run the punters will remember they have been lied to in order to get them through the door. At this stage tho' I think most people know the story and where to go on Saturday.

They even have someone in town today taking down our posters!

It seems that the forum are doing something similar to shakedown but with light rock music which I must say sounds excellent. And its going to be free into the forum from now on. I always enjoyed Shakedown and have been going there for years but I'm sorry I'd prefer to go to Rubys or even Oxegen than the Bowery if I don't like what the forums new music. I think I'll try the forum out this weekend anyway. Will miss Musiklab but its way too cold out to go to the Bowery and theres no decent pubs round there!!

No hassle Liesia, I have mates who were never fans of The Forum so its going to please some and annoy others.

But I just want to say thank you to everyone who made it down last night. We ended up selling out The Bowery for Shakedown which surprised us all given that its bigger than our last venue. We'll have pics & video on the shakedown site in the coming days. But last night has really shown us that we made the right decison.

    Thanks again,
    Luke

Hey Luke, great last night last. Bowery is quiet good.

    Especially the €11 pitchers!

cheer's - any thing you didn't like about it? Besides Smoking Area - we're well aware of that and they have major plans for it in the coming months.

Just trying to get some feedback so we can make it better.

is that your only reason for not liking the Bowery? seems like the lazy approach to enjoying yourself.

Had a great time in Shakedowns new home last night. Fair play lads.
Will probably be there next Saturday to catch Jay Ru's set in the front bar and hopefully i will be sober enough to remember the night.

Paying to go somewhere where there are no other pubs I like close by vs paying to go somewhere close to other pubs I like.
Paying to go somewhere I have to freeze my ass off to get to and from vs paying to go somewhere I don't.
Doesn't seem lazy to me seems sensible.I think I know which option is best suited to enjoying myself

Only thing I didn't like was the tiny dancefloor, but not much can be done about that.

I liked the fact that you could go somewhere a bit quieter if you wanted to have a chat with people or whatever.

    Good buzz last night anyways.

doesn't make much sense to me.
we aren't exactly living in the artic circle and the Bowery is only a 10 minute walk from the center of town. Surly the music counts for something and not the weather!
