Can't delete program

    OK

I downloaded this program about 2 months ago. It was called setup.exe, and it was meant to install the Java JDK, and put it in the right paths and all, but it didn't work. When you clicked on it, you would get an error message that said "This file is not a valid Win32 application"

Then I said to myself that this is a load of rubbish, so I will delete it. But when I right-click on it, and go to delete it I get the message "You cannot delete setup: It is being used by another person or program". Then straight away I pressed CTRL+ALT+DELETE and went to processes, but I couldn't see anything that was using it. If I try to rename it, copy it, cut it, delete to the recycling bin, delete for good I get the same error message. It has always been like that, every single day so a reboot won't work.

Then I tried booting into safe mode, and then deleting it, but no, still the same error message. This is annoying because I cannot think of a way to delete it.

Thank you for the help in advance :)

    oisin's program did not work

according to that program though, it was explorer.exe that was using the program, which could make this whole thing more awkward

The program I downloaded was a program that I got from a boardster here

I started a thread in the programming forum a while back asking where I was to download the JDK for Java, and one of the posters said to download this file from a site, that it would sort out Class Paths and everthing

The post I am talking about is here

BTW I am using Windows XP SP2 Home Edition

I got a different program to do the job. It is similar to oisin's program, but this one worked, I am not sure why the other one didn't

Thank you for the help anyway,

The problem is already fixed, but anyway, the reason you couldn't delete it was probably because of registry entries it added. I had this with spyware which I couldn't remove (fixed now though ;)).
