    Hey all,

I was watching Die Hard 2 the other night and saw how journalists are portrayed in films. Its always in a negative light, can anyone else think of any other movies with this kind of stereotype?

    Of course Anchorman is one!

    Not in High Fidelity...

In that movie journalists are sexy twenty-something brunettes that want to shag you... I like High Fidelity :p

Big time! Especially female ones. In The Life of David Gale, Kate Winslet plays your usual ball-breaking, man-hating, but vulnerable, hack. Ditto Jennifer Jason Leigh in The Hudsucker Proxy (although that is a satire). Who else? Courtney Cox in Scream - another unpleasant piece of work. Network - Faye Dunaway is just evil. I'm actually a journalist myself, but it doesn't really bother me. It's just funny. Be nice to see a female journalist who isn't nasty and manipulative with a hidden agenda, though.
I don't know. Am I wrong, but do most of the "honourable investigative journalist" roles go to males?

Weird. I was just thinking about this in the shower, not 20 minutes ago (it's not what you think).

I think this is a time when the character was acceptable. I mean, her name was "Gale Weathers" for **** sake. I think Kevin Williams (the writer) was playing up the stereotype.

The journalists in Cannibal Holocaust are portrayed in a VERY bad light.
