With the sigerson weekend coming up i just wante to get people's opinions on how they think it will go.

    UUJ V QUEENS

    DCU V UCC

As a DCU man myself i am pretty confident about our chances. Admittedly losing the "DCU 4" was a big loss but we wtill have a lot of talent and with home advantage as well i think we can do it. I reckon that Jordanstown will be our biggest threat though. After going to Sligo and beating the champs on their own patch their confidence will be very high. Here's for a DCU v UUJ final and DCU to prevail!!

I think UUJ now have to be the favourites and I think they will win the Sigerson.

I would prbably agree with UUJ being favourites but i reckon DCU have what it takes to go all the way as well. Queens will be a tough hurdle for UUJ in a local derby and UCC will be a tough nut to crack for DCU as well so its not all plain sailing. UUJ have a number of their freshers on the panel as well who i played against earlier this year and they are all quality players.

Is Ronan Flanigan in the DCU starting team?

I think I heard someone say that he started, I don't know how he got on though.
I hope DCU win, I think I will go and watch the games, there are some quality players on show, would have been even more so if the "DCU 4" had of being playing.

Both semi finals are to played there in St. Clares with the final to be played in Parnell Park, the final is also live on Setanta.

Sligo did not have as good a panel this year as they had previous years

yes Flanagan started wing forward against An Garda, but he was taken off at half time as he got a dead leg. He probably wouldnt of been starting if Munnelly hadnt of been suspended but by all acoounts he has been playing well for the sigers, and he has probably been our best player on the freshers.

By the way DCU are offering student tickets for onlt € for the semi-finals which is prctically for nothing. They should both be good games and im expecting a decent crowd their from DCU to roar the team on. There is a real buzz about DCU at the moment with posters all around the college trying to get people supposrt for the side. Talking to various people they say that this is DCU's great chance for glory although UCC will be no push overs. If DCU can get to the final anything can happen. Great to see Setanta taking interest as well and showing the final live on Saturday afternoon although personally I feel its a bit stupid asking the players to play the final the day after the semi-finals. It might take a bit from the match as a spectacle as the players will be tired.

Heres hoping for a DCU triumph!

At least now they only play the semi finals on on the same weekend!

Queens vs DCU in the final.

Didn't see the first game (UUJ vs Queens), apparently Queens stole it in injury time. Saw the second game - very windy conditions made for a scrappy game but DCU were deserving winners. UCC had practically nothing at midfield. Hard to know how the final will pan out.

That's very true. They'd a few injuries too like Paddy Brady from Cavan who usually plays at midfield.

just back from the final, DCU victorious!A throughly deserved win for the hosts. It was a scrappy first half with queens playing with the wind and they dominated most of the half, with the ball almost constantly in the DCU half, but they couldnt score. They went in level at half time 0-4 a piece. Then for the second DCU really showed their class. Their movement and general play was magnificent. They restricted Queens to one score in the 2nd, a goal from a penalty. Conor mortimer and Seanie Johnston started kicking points for fun and Bryan Cullen and Declan Lally were superb in the half back line.Final score was DCU 0-11 Queens 1-4, a new name on the trophy and thankfully DCU have done it!!

Also great for the game to be shown live on tg4, it can only help to boost the profile of the competition.

I heard Lally was good but a friend of mine (and I'll point out he's a Meath supporter, not Cavan) reckons that Seanie Johnston, and not Lally, should have got MOM. Heard he got five points from play. Flanigan started too as wing forward. Was John Tierney playing?

It was probably a close call between Seanie and Lally, Lally did make some great runs from the half back line about 3 or 4 times and played very well in defense. Seanie kicked some great points as well, so really hard to call. John Tierney didn't play, I think he is still injured or something. Great to DCU win it.

Anyone got a link to any online reports? I haven't been able to find any so far. Probably won't appear until tomorrow.

The game is on Setanta at the minute and will probably be on ever day for the next week, although that is probably of no use to you if you are in Sligo/Cavan!!

Lally did have a good game and Seanie had a good game as well. Mortimer really stood up to the plate in the last 15 mins as well when he had to raise his game and kicked three lovely points. But mom imo was Owen Lennon who had a fine game in midfield linking defense and attack superbly and winning a lot of possession around the middle third.

Lemlin, Seanie kicked 3 points from play and a free. I wouldnt have thought he did enough for man of the match - he was at the end of moves rather than an integral part of them, but never looked like he was going to miss. Mortimor also got 4 points. He took a while to get into the game, but was excellent in the last quarter.

Lally made a few eye-catching runs up the field. I thought the best players on the pitch were Lennon and Cullen.

The standard of play overall was mediocre enough. Conditions might have played a part. Ref liked blowing his whistle and dishing out yellows. QUB's shooting was woeful.

How did Flanigan play at wing forward? Just wondering from a Cavan perspective.

He wasnt bad there at all, got on a lot of ball and he used it well. He tracked back well and covered a lot of ground as he usually does. He has been playing in the corner for Cavan has he??

The college all starts have been announced and , un-surprisingly, DCU lead the way with seven players on the team.
