Can you believe we were given a lego robotics project for a final year project in A.I in College. You had to build and robot that could learn (programmed with NQC), was pretty good fun seeing the different results :D

I can't find either of the parts I require on the main legoshop website:

    http://shop.lego.com/default.asp

    thanks anyway coolwings.

I'm building a robotic arm that incorporates a vision system using LeJOS (A small virtual machine on the RCX that can be interacted with using Java code).

I need the Rotation(Angle) sensors for position accuracy, timers wont work as it gets slower when the batteries run low. Its speed also depends on the type of movement (It takes more than twice the amount of time to move the arm into an upright position than it takes for it to go down).

Try sending them an email ... ask if they have a specialist dealer they can recommend who keeps the odd little bits in stock.

Sounds like a fun project. Lots of constraints imposed by the lego parts to overcome :)

Would it be possible to use relays that operate when a motor stalls ?At end of travel, the motor stalls, and amps go up, and this triggers the relay.
Similar to the circuit that stops a car window motor when the window reaches end of travel.

It's a robot arm, I'm not looking for an end of travel point. The arm has a camera mounted on it and simply reacts to its surroundings by moving towards or away from an object it sees. It will move towards an object it "wants" like a red ball for example, it will not need to extend itself fully most of the time and will not reach extremes of motion most of the time. I'm just looking for accuracy.

Does anyone have a lego mindstorms Robotics Invention System set that they are willing to sell (for a reasonable price)
