I think nearly all receivers can power DiSEqC (Digital Satellite Equipment Control) motors nowadays. You just need to make sure the receiver has DiSEqC 1.2 to power a motor.

sky installer erecting nearby today told me the lidil reciever was crap and that i needed to buy a tingy to put at the back of the reciever to power the motor, the cost of the item including him fitting it 350 yo yos, 100 for the lidil package 100 for the motor plus another 350 nearly needed recicetation

The Lidl box can power and operate a Diseqc Motor, but not a 36V actuator or 36V motor.

See Motek motor on www.satellite.ie. I'm using one and it is on eof the bettter models.

Many PC Satellite PCI cards and adaptors can't reliably operate a Diseqc motor, but all set top boxes with the 1.2 GOTOX or USALS can.

The LNB feed cable goes to LNB connection on motor and other connection back to IF in / LNB connector on the satellite receiver. No extra wires needed.

I've run a Motek motor, with a Comag SL55 (Lidl) reciever, absolutly fine, no issues. Was picking up Astra1, Astra2/Eurobird (SKY) and Hotbird. The arc wasn't fully setup so it's quite remarkable to pick up 3 on the first attempt.

Some of the Comags have issues with Power supplys, so you want to be careful, but any good reciever will have Diseq 1.2 on and will be good to power a motor moving any dish up 1.2metres.

Check Satellite.ie for some decent recievers. Check on the web for reviews to see if you need one with a cam or not.

Unless you want to continiously pay money for subscriptions you don't need a CAM. FTA deosn't use a CAM.

1.2m is very optimistic. 1.1m in a sheltered location, otherwise 80 or 90cm.

1.2m and larger dishes need actuators/jacks/motors that are separately powered 36V systems.

If the receiver has lots of ventillation it is fine. They all need well ventilated even without a motor for long PSU life.

Lidl receivers are a bit dodgy especially when they flash a red light on the screen and die on you.

but it (should) still do the job alright
