I'm pretty sure this was brought up before but I can't find the thread.

Two players in a hand, 5th street is dealt up,

first to speak bets the pot, player folds.

player shows the table 1 card the dealer says "show one show all"

I assumed it was show everyone the 1 card, but everyone could see the lone Ace, and the dealer made the player show the second card.

I was under the impression in an uncontended pot you can choose to show one card, both cards or muck both.

    can anyone clear this up?

also does the same rule apply for omaha in the fitZ?

Im pretty sure its supposed to be "show one player, show all". you dont have to show any cards, so if you show one, you dont have to show the other.

But you cant show your cards to only one player. Its all or nothing.

This was my understanding, so I asked the dealer and he said it's "house rules" another dealer confirmed and other players at the table, as I wasn't in the hand in question I didn't question it any further, but I'm sure it's wrong.

The Fitz rule is that if you show one of your hole cards, and a request is made to see the other one, then as long as it hasn't hit the muck it must be shown.

The normal show one show all thing is as you mentioned, and when you show one player your cards and are then going to muck. They must be shown to all players.

So if I want to show one, I just throw the one i don't want to show in the muck and show the other?

    I don't get the point.

    Yes.

The dealer was wrong, if there is no showdown and no request to see the second card is not to be turned over.

However the show one show all rule applies both to showing two cards and all players.

Maybe someone asked that I didn't hear, I still thing the rule is odd, if there's no showdown i don't see what right the players have to ask to see the second card, and considering you can muck one then show one it all seems a bit pointless to me.

what happens if the card is not mucked when I show one, someone asks to see it and i just throw it at the muck?

    You get a slap?

usually people don't request to see the second card, but it happens.

    It's an anti-cheating rule.

If there's ways of showing one card, e.g. thorwing one first then showing one, how does it stop cheating?

It doesn't. but just because there are ways that a rule can be circumvented doesn't mean that the rule should not exist.
