I have a 40gig hard drive with XP and a 250gig drive with SuSE but I can only view one from the other ie. not edit anything on the 250g drive when in Xp. Is there any way around this?

Linux used different file systems (EXT2/EXT3/REISERFS) to Windows (FAT/FAT32/NTFS), and while you can mount one from the other, it's usually best avoided, particularly in the direction you want to go. The best solution is usually to create a shared FAT32 partition for stuff you want to use in both OS's.
