    Ok here's the story,
Me and a few others are making a DVD for rag week in our college. We have the camcorders and dvd writers etc. we just need help on choosing the right software. Could you please recommend what software we should use to capture the footage from the camcorders, compress it (if nescessary), edit/cut the footage, add maybe a menu and a few other affects (maybe music played over some clips, etc.), and finally burn onto DVD that will work in most DVD players.
It doesn't matter if you have to pay for the program, we'll spend whatever's nescessary. Also if there's a free way maybe mention that too :p

    Thanks lads!

Avid Free DV for editing it. Completely free, and better than any relatively cheap software.

There's lots of DVD packages out there. Nero 7 has one which I haven't tried yet, but is apparently decent. As long as you're not after anything too complex.
