I have a real difficulty preparing for an audition, I'm fine once i get inthere but I guess its just lack of experience reall;y but I worry about the little things like have I prepared the right sort of piece/song etc. Or am I wearing the wrong thing. I know in the end its probably my talent that will get me through but.. Does anyone want to share their audition experiences/tips etc? Cheers

p.s Its really difficut to find out about upcoming auditions, is it just generally word of mouth or is there anywhere that they are actually announced?

If you have an agent they should be able to put you through for auditions.

For clothes just try to wear things that don't distract from your face and aren't constrictive (e.g. no big logos or words on shirts).

Firstly, realise that there is other people in your position. So don't worry there.

Of course everybody can get some nerves..you are going in there expressing yourself in a major way and breaking down internal barriers and all that.

Do a good warm up before you go in.Physical first, get the blood flowing nice and do stretching. If you are a singer, after the physical..do your vocal warm up.

The panel want to mainly see,if auditioning for a drama, that you have potential to develop a character and you have necessary tools and experience to do this. Also that you can take direction and be worked with as a professional. That you can look after yourself and deliver what they want.

In terms of agencies...this is so hard to crack. They are mostly booked up always and it's hard to get an agent to see your show.Try casting directors, more luck there.

Have fun also..auditioning is a great experience.Hope this was a smidging helpful!

    Good luck!
