im thinking of getting this baby as a compact all rounder with a bit of 'bling' factor. i like cool things

now all the 'official' reviews seem to give it a bit of a bashing and tend to think it's over-rated and over priced but from what i can gather on user's thoughts, the majority seem to like it and recommend it.

at ~€300 it aint cheap but its sexy, sleek, small and has a few cool features like that MPEG-4 recorder, a big bright screen and 6mp with 3x optical zoom. plus av out is important for me.

with that movie recording it'll eat memory so i'll need more than the internal 8mb!! lol! prolly get a 1gb sd card for ~€50. added with delivery of €22 it'll work out at roughly €380 on technikdirekt.

so basically im looking for thoughts/advice on whether im mad in the head or whether it's not a bad deal. also are technik reliable?

All that, and no mention about the quality of the photographs?

It appears you're more worried about how it looks. So why ask advice here?

Can't comment on the EX-Z600, but my sister has the Casio EX-Z750 and its an excellent camera. Looks a little 'fatter' than Z600. Havent used it much but as far as i remember, it allows a lot of manual tweaks and even has a rgb histogram, which is cool. Good bright large screen as well.

It's so stupid when people describe an inanimate object as sexy... except for lingerie.

cars are sexy i.e. a ferrari sportscar compared to a 1990 nissan micra.

im not into photography, i won't be taking pictures of birds or wildlife or beautiful landscapes. this camera is for the hustle and bustle of the real world; parties, football matches, holidays etc...

i dont want a square brick 2 inches thick with a big 5ft lens hanging off it :p i like the smooth, sleek, 'credit card' type cameras that do the job.

all i see is 6megapixels and a 3x optical zoom along with MPEG-4 recorder. i dont understand or need all the stuff you guys have!

it's like anything when you talk to entusiasts they'll push there views on you,
it's a decent quality camera, definately looks fantastic, and tiny, pretty much perfect for what you want.
