Conroe (intel's new chip) to (probably) require a new motherboard

Despite still being the same physical socket, it looks as if, once again, the current Intel motherboards will not be able to support future cpu's (before it was the pentium D that needed new motherboards).

It may be solvable via a bios update, provided the motherboard maker used a VRM that could drive the chip in the first place.

Intel must looove the money they make from chipsets. Pretty much every update they've ever made seems to require a new board. I don't see why they can't just plan ahead a bit and save everyone needing a new board every few months. Imagine if you'd bought a S939 board when the first 3000+ came out. You'd still be flying now. Wonder how many intel chipsets there have been in the meantime
