DS Browser On The Way

Fantastic. The TV I could personally do without.. but the browser, with the DS's wifi capabilities, sounds really cool. Hope they're not bundled on the same unit (=extra price for the browser), but I doubt it.

There's also a 4gb harddrive on the way for watching movies and listening to music. 4gb is loads for a device like that.

I think the DS has just cemented itself at the top of 'gadgets to get' list. As one of the comments on Eurogamer said, "Now all we need is an addon that lets the PSP play games, and the handheld war will be a definite tie..." :v:

Brilliant news, don't care about the TV tuner, but the Browser and HDD are great developments; now all I need is some PDA software and I'll be happy as larry.

Is it true that the DSlite will leave the GBA cards protruding a little? That will be a bit of a pain given the fact that the HDD will stick out a bit already..
And as for the second screen on the browser, will it just work as a long single screen? by the looks of the screenshot it shows a magnified version... I bet someone (if it's not official) will figure out a way to make the HDD work independent of the movie software, and so use it as a HDD for the browser

Meh. $32 for a browser? At that price, I'd only consider it if they call it the Web Bowser ;D

Savage. i've really been wondering recently weather or not they would bring out a browser... hopefully it will come with some sort of media player so you could listen to and watch web streams...

as for the tv card... i wonder how many years it would take for a service like to be here in ireland.....

I think it's just a standerd analog antenna job. It will work here for RTE, TV3, etc.

You know us DS users get to use BT openzone wifi spots for free, so the browser will come in very useful!

I thought it said it was a digital aerial somewhere when I was surfing yesterday, can't find it now, so it'd useless in Ireland there's a lot of freeview digital here though :D

Looks like you're right. From Engadget :

"Update 2: Just to clarify, the TV tuner is only capable of receiving "One-Seg" broadcasts. "One-Seg" is a kind of terrestrial digital broadcast, meaning this TV tuner cannot receive traditional analog TV broadcasts. Unless more countries hop on the One-Seg boat in the near future (Japan is set to launch One-Seg broadcasts on April 1st of this year), it's extremely unlikely this accessory will ever get outside of Japan."

To enable a smooth web experience, the DS will receive a RAM upgrade, via the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot.

I did think that there would be problems with the amount of ram the ds has - so this really is important news and it suggests to me, the browser will be a lot more than just a gimmick.

I wonder what effect this, and the HDD cart will have on battery performance...

    I wonder if this browser will lead to more "handheld applications", like portapr0n :v: :v: :v: :v: :v: :v:

Browser aint necessary fpr pr0n with the above mentioned 4Gb hard disk. It will be interesting to see if downloads to the hard disk could be possible, doubt nintendo would let us but I'm sure someone will sort out a workaround

Might be difficult if the browser needs the ram upgrade in the GBA slot (the same place the HDD goes).
