Sky installation

    Hi,

I'm getting Sky+ to be installed next Friday. Just a few things bothering my mind.

I live in a high Georgian building (4 storeys) in Dublin City Centre. Do you reckon that the installer will charge extra for the installation? Should I warn him beforehand to bring high ladders, etc? Do anyone of you know what company is doing the installing of Sky in Dublin at the moment? Are they any good?

As my place is protected structure (renting), I think I need planning permission to get a sat dish errected. However, saw a building next to mine with a dish. So, I asked the landlord about this, and he said it is grand to put up the satellite. The landlord is a solicitor and I bet he knows his way around the legal stuff.BTW, I'll be putting up the dish on the rear side of the building.

Thanks in advance for your views.:o

I see the dish you mean just to the right of the 3rd door from the left , you go to the left of the door and it will look spiffing .

Every single building has an alarm (typical Dubs) so if you get a dish with CENTAUR SECURITY written on it in BOLD the council won't say boo to you because its an alarm not a dish . Obvioously so.

Being bluntly honest the sky installer may take one look at your building and take off.

    Are you serious?

Don't tell me I can't get sky.. NTL hopeless. Been begging for 10 months to get connected. No chance. The building is not wired and they won't wire it.

You could fit a dish yourself?

The installer came by today and said that he couldn't do the job. He recommended me to ask for an independent installer to put it up instead. He said that it'll probably will cost me around €500. Mad!!

Could any of you recommend one around Dublin. I know Tony won't do sky installation.

Not really mad if you consider the work involved given the type of building you live in.
