    hey all

This is probably a very simple problem but i am not the most experienced with the ladies. However I met this girl in

a pub a few weeks ago and we had a snog and i took her number. After that we started texting and went for a date to

the cinema and a drink. However to be honest i didnt paticularly enjoy myself on the date and didnt feel much

attraction from my side(both physical and personality wise). However she was a really nice girl just not my type.

Here comes the problem, she asked me out again and certainly seems interested but I am not so keen on the idea. I

turned her down telling her i couldnt due to a previous commitment. Since they she was away on a holiday but since

she came back has been texting me on a very regular basis. I reply with texts which do not require answers but they

still keep coming :-( She doesnt seem to be taking the hint that i am not asking her out or texting her

I dont want to be a prick about it, some of my mates suggest that maybe i should tell her i am back with my ex.(even

though i dont have one). But i dont like the idea of lying or hurting her.

Is there any nice simple way any of you girls have been "let down"

I know this is a bit simple but i really dont want to be an asshole

    ta!

Well, heres an idea.. how about... telling the truth?
If what your sayings true, its really not that bad a situation. Better than if you came up with an elaborate lie, only to be found out- that would hurt more than the truth. :o

You won't feel to strong about someone this early. Don't expect to. Maybe she is just being forthright noticing your shyness and taking the lead. Don't leave it rattle you. Meet her away if you think there might enjoy the night out or maybe just want to give her a chance.
Always being honest with yourself and if things don't work out say it plainly and honestly. Always the best course of action.

People always appreciate honesty, well I do, if ya have no interest tell her now, she'll soon get over it and you'll have a weight lifted off your mind, dont tell her and you're going into the world of head wrecking which is a cold and horrible place lol

Just say that you don't think that you're right for eachother. Be honest, but kind in doing so. Remember she has feelings and it would be best if you are nice about it. By the by, don't text this. Either ringer her or tell her in person.

Just tell her the truth, she will respect you in the end for it.....there will be nothin worse for her than if you dump her without reason....just tell her that it's just not for you

guys thanks for the various advice. People seem to be telling me to be honest, however my main query is what do i say without being an asshole?

There is no really nice way of doing it, especially if she really likes you I'm afraid!! Maybe give her a ring and chat away to her as normal, when the subject comes up about another date just say something like "look to be honest I think your great, your a lovely person and I love chatting to you but I don't think there's any chemistry between us, maybe we could go out as friends though?"
This is when she will either freak out and hang up the phone or she could be really cool about it!!!!

EDIT: to be honest I wouldn't worry too much about it if she hangs up!! You have only been out with the girl once... at least you were honest and had the balls to tell the truth!

aido, just tell her that while you enjoyed her company, you didn't think that there was much of a spark between you and that you're not looking to go any further. Don't give her any of the "but you're a lovely girl" stuff!

Just stop texting back, if she isn't taking the hint with your "placid" texts it's hardly your fault, and why should you put yourself throught the wringer of a phone call that's just going to make both of you feel like ****.

Just tell her the truth....you liked her but you don't fancy her...hope she has a good life, etc, etc....:D

Second this. You've done your bit, it's not your fault if she can't take a hint. Just stop texting back.

....and ignore any bitter texts in a week.

two options here and there easy:

    1) Tell her the truth, just that you like her as a friend, no more

    2) Dont bother replying to her txt's that she sends, im sure she will get the hint quick enough...

    Let's just be friends.

I like you but not in that way.

I have a great time talking to you, you're like a sister to me.

Stop texting back or invite her out for a drink or to the cinema 'just as friends' that you really like her but don't wanna be in a relationship

My usual method is to stop texting back, but it has been known for some people to take up to three months to get the hint. Honesty is prob the best policy here.

youare already being an asshole and a príck.
while the girl may get upset that you dont want to go out with her, you are stringing her along at the moment.

just tell her thanks, but youre not interested in meeting up any more, and youre sorry.
