This is probably a stupid question, but I want to know how I can plug my laptop into my hard drive at work so I have two screens. Does one need some special kind of cable?;)

I'd say badly phrased more so than stupid. I'm guessing that you mean that you want to attach your work monitor to your laptop so that you can have a second screen. If this is the case then you should be able to unplug your work monitor from the PC and plug it into the VGA port on the back of your laptop. Fro there you should be able to change the display properties to use the second monitor too.

The monitor will normally be connected to the PC using a VGA connector. They're normally blue. Just loosen the two retaining screws on the connector and it should come straight out.

If you are lucky enough to have a good quality TFT monitor at work then the cable might have a larger DVI connector (typically white). This won't plug directly into your laptop.
