    hi,

i am using my sister's Ipod and last night i updated the Ipod to my itunes on my computer, a couple of hours later i went to play it and the thing won't turn on, i have tried everything on the apple site,

reset, toggle the lock button and then press the play pause button for 6 to 10 secs

and i have now tried to restore the o/s on the Ipod, but the program doesn't even recon the Ipod on the computer, but the USB control says there's a mass storage device attached to the computer. and when i plug in the usb there's a beep to say somethings connected,

    please help

    thanks
    paul

Yea this happened to mine, basically the hard drive is gone. I tried all the reset things as well and it was just dead, Apple logo would appear and then disapppear.

I brought mine into Dixons where I bought it and it was within 1yr warranty so they handed me a brand new one, all took about 10mins.

Apparently its not that uncommon for it to happen.

You can't be serious, it cant be that i mean it was working last night, i was using it and then i stoped and when i went back to it wouldn't turn on. The apple logo won't appear on this one! but it's battery was full

Just saying what happened to mine, it just stopped working, either way you gotta bring it back to where you bought it.
The situation I was in was that the last step for fixing it myself was to mount it on the computer and then fix it, I couldn't do this because the computer didn't recognise it, even though it also beeped when I plugged in the USB.

    Any update?

Try using the wall charger / and reset?
    Try it in another computer?

This happened to me also - I put the USB cable into a different slot and it picked it up no probs - might be worth a try.....

Bang on. This has worked in several instances lately for me. It's also one of the remedies suggested on Apples website.

Similar thing happened my Ipod. First noticed a problem playing just one song. Then it would not sync more than half my songs. Hard drive was just defective and eventually it gave up. Think you're better going back to the shop to be honest if its still in warranty. Curry's replaced mine no problem....even without the receipt they had the Serial number on their system so they could tell when it was sold.

My first iPod broke while i was updating songs. It would come on, show the apple logo and go back off again. and just keep doing that over and over. I retrurned it to apple and they sent me a brand new one.
It happened again recently to my new iPod, i has ordered the box to return it and everything when i discovered this thing called Disk mode. Search google for it, or search the apple site. Basically it puts the iPod into a kind of safe mode and then you can restore it using the apple ipod updater. worked for me.
