    Hi all,

Running a Pentium 4 Toshiba laptop which tends to run vey hot and switch off due to the powerful progams I run on it.

A recently heard about a laptop base with fans in it that plugs into our USB for power to provide extra air flow? Any body know where these can be got?

    Kind regards

Sounds interesting. I have the same problem with an Amilo D laptop and i use a program called CPU Eat'n'Cool which prevents a certain percentage of your cpu from being used at all, it slows your pc down a bit but also stops it from overheating as well.

Anyone know what the best and most quiet laptop fan is?

Hey, much like urself i have an amilo D that gets hot, i actually posted this in another thread..so copy n paste:P It does stil get hot when running very intense progs but for majority of work it does pretty well at keeping cool , found it in peats in town, and im sure pc world sell them

    "hey
it acually cost me just 25 euro, there was another make from alska for 35 euro. sorry i dont have a web link but il give you the details of it.
its called the Titan notebook fan, can be found at titan-cd.com

not sure if they stil have any left in peats but you could try maplins or the peats in blanch aswell. the left sid eof the laptop near the processor gets warm, thats it, no warmer than a centrino would even while doing intense work. hope you can find one"

Maplins have them - more expnsive than purchasing online of course. ~40Euro, if you're impatient. Does a great job of keeping the craptop cool + adds memory card reader + USB hub..

if youre handy with machines you could also try re-applying new thermal paste on your cpu/gpu
