"Scalps" tourney

This is mentioned in another thread, but my local club is looking to add +ev to their Monday night game, and I might suggest this to them. Can anyone who's played it explain it a little more clearly.

This is how I understand it. Everyone pays a tenner for a scalp token. When you go all in, you also throw in your scalp. If you lose, the villian keeps your scalp. When you're out, you get to cash in all the scalps you have for a tenner each. Am I to understand that when you go all in, the only scalp you can lose is your own - you keep any scalps you've already attained? Is it mandatory or optional? If optional, who's making sure that the guy who's gone all in has put in his scalp, that it's not in his pocket and he's going to try to get his own tenner back when he leaves (ie claim that the scalp is someone else's and he already lost his).

I think in the Fitz scalps tourney it's mandatory that you participate in the scalps part. They take the $$ at registration. Probably the easiest way to do it.
Other than that everything else in your post is correct. I think the rule is that all players must keep the scalp chip on the table at all times.

thats an idea i might try in my club but does it only work in a freeze-out tourney.if not, how would it work in rebuy tourneys?

Either give one scalp per rebuy - the macau did this for their tournament league a couple of years ago or give one and it goes in when the player gets knocked out.
