Just back from the gig. Been to see Clap Your Hands and Belle & Sebastian already in the past couple of weeks but neither came close to this gig. I doubt I'll see a better one all year. They were absoluetely amazing, bar the arcade fire I doubt theres a better live band around at the moment.
They played for a solid Two and a quater hours, I hope other bands out there take notice, and all for only €15!!!

An amazing gig. Rivalling Sigur Rós at times for brilliance in a live act. The track before almost crimes (can't remember the name) was one of the most amazing things ever.... Then the ending... fantastic.

What the HELL? Does this mean you just let two tickets go to waste?

They were...transcendental. Sadly, I missed last two songs due to being down in the toilets puking :o - that Kopparberg stuff is rough. I'm so ashamed. Might go to see them in London in May. That photo is fantastic, hoovering. Consider it yoinked.

It was a brillant gig,i didn't know any songs from the new album but stilled enjoyed it completely

I want to see them again :(

Was there a support act? i came in at like 830 and bss came on at 845

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

There was no support act. They actually came on late.. they were originally meant to play from 7.45. I guess the fact there was about 50 people there at 7.45 probably because the tickets were misprinted with 8 as the start time and that there was a support act meant they held off for a bit.

Everyone who came in after they started PACKed the back. It was a lot less crowded front left were I was but when I had to head out to the toilet I could barely move at the back. Preferablly they should have been in the Olympia with me with lower circle tickets :-D

Thought they put on a great show. I've only heard the new album, which fortunetly they played all or most of. I'm not a huge fan of 7+ member rock bands but at least they weren't gimmicky like The Arcade Fire. Better musicians too.

I'm amazed that there are actually people out there who are big fans of a band, get the tickets to their gigs but end up not going because they'd be going on their own. It's not too hard to meet new people at these things.

yeah if you're not going, at least make an attempt at selling/giving away your ticket...

ffs i must of been asked by at least 10 diferent people if i was selling a ticket

i wholeheartedly agree, ive met so many awesome people at gigs, and the majority of bands actually come out & socialise with the crowd afterwards, Steve the guitarist from STARS even invited me backstage and bought me a drink(at their gig in december)

it was seriously good stuff. From start to finish it was the most energetic and captivating performance I've seen in a long time. The interaction with the crowd was most entertaining, even the p*ss breaks didn't upset momentum (and they certainly didn't hide the fact that that was why they were stalling at times). To see 3 guitars break strings in a single song tells you something about the effort they were giving it.

Nasty looking green jacket though on Brendan Canning. Saw him rambling around Temple Bar beforehand looking like a total tourist.

Didn't they manage their limited space well too? I make it that they most they had on stage at a single time was 11 and they worked out the taking turns on mics with the brass section very well. They had their signals well worked out.

Please tell me that that blondey female singer was wearing a wig? Some haircut if she wasn't!!

Its a real pity cos we'll likely never get to see them with that lineup again.

One of the best gigs I have been to. Even though I missed the first half hour. Anthems for a seventeen year old girl was one of the greatest live songs i've heard.
Oh and if anyone has any more photos could they please post them

This was absolutely, without a doubt, the best gig I've been to yet...ever.

Brendan was wearing pink runners to go with his green jacket. Quite the dude!

The blonde singer wasn't wearing a wig either...twas all her own hair. And she had beautiful little feet too!

I'm still in awe; can't stop thinking about this gig, the setlist, the 11 of them, the brass section, the hug I got from Kevin Drew when he jumped down from the stage into the crowd - it was truly magical :)

I gotta hug from kevin as well, kinda weird but cool anyways.
Who was the blond girl doing vocals? I'm not at all familiar with most of the artists in the group, only the guys from Stars who weren't there.
