Playing $0.50/1 6 max on PPP, I got involved in two odd hands with the same player over the course of the session. He was one of these players who bought in for $20 constantly until he had a decent enough stack and he'd probably invested $120 in this way when he got up to $130 through some really dodgy, calling-station play. One of these pots was a $80 one against me where he rivered my top two with a gammy flush and berated me for my bad play (he checked the river to me btw). Anyway, it ends with him saying he'll break me etc. and we promsie each other to get involved in a big pot. I have around $200

Both hands are played the same preflop, an utg raise by me to $5 which only he calls from SB.

First hand, I have KK and he checks the 6h8h9s flop to me. I bet $8 and he calls. The turn is Qs, again he checks and I bet $16. He almost instantly pushes for another $100...

Second hand, I have JJ and he checks the QJ6 flop to me. I bet $8, he min raises and I flat call. The turn is a 10, completing the rainbow. He checks and I bet $30 which he smooth calls. River is a 7 and he checks...

Any and all opinions on what I should do on the river or differently during the hand please. I'll post what happened later.

I check the flop in hand 1. Yes its controversial, but thats not a good flop for KK. I have to find a fold to his 100 push, as set/str8 is his most likely hand really.

I bet the river in hand 2, I mean .... why would you not?

    1. Fold - Dont get too attached to an overpair against a calling station
    2. Bet

You mean if they play back at you right?

Fold the first hand. Do all you can to go broke in the second one.

    1) with his flat call on the flop you will have to fold the reraise on the turn my guess is he has J,10.

    2) push it.

After your little run in with him earlier i think your pride might be getting in the way of your decisions.

The first hand I folded, I could have made a crying call but I couldn't bring myself to do it. He told me after that he had 27. I doubt this as he had the "never show winning hands" option switched off due to the delay between my fold and his muck and he didn't show there. JT is most likely but I have a bad feeling it could have been AQ.

The second hand is the one I had most trouble with afterwards. I felt he would have bluffed the river with nothing or at least a semi bluff with a weak pair. His check set off alarm bells in my head about a potential check raise which in hindsight was foolish. I checked and he showed a very strangely played AA. I still can't decide whether he would have called an all-in on the river, given that his pride might have gotten in the way too. Maybe he just had a very good read on me.

Most players in my experience that check call the turn and check the river are showing extreme weakness and 90% of the time will fold to a bet on the river

I find that most players who check/call the turn, will check/call the river on a blank card also.

*believe me, its cost me a fortune*
