Does anyone know of a place in Dublin which can repair a Canon Eos 500 SLR.

I tried some camera shops but they all want money up front just to look at the job and can't guarentee they will fix it... rip-off!!

I need a small firm which needs the work and will tell me straight off if the camera is fixable without charging me E50 for the info!!

    Thanks in advance!!

how can they tell you if it's fixable without looking at it. you want a psychic camera repair shop?

camera shops are businesses and they can't spend time looking to see what's wrong and not get paid for that time

It would take a repair guy an hour or two to see exactly whats wrong with your camera and what parts are needed and how much they will cost. In the meantime you might happen to realise you can get another EOS 500 for about €50 and abandon your broken one.

So you cant blame them for asking for €50 upfront. Its a nice camera, unless its sentimental to you, head to Ebay for a replacement.

EOS 300's are two a penny on eBay and you can get a 50E for EUR50-75.

Should have made this clear... they want the money, then want to send the camera away and then tell me what the score is after goodness knows how many weeks. I have no problem paying for an inspection if it is done there and then. I cant find a shop that will do that!!

I love the camera and it does have great memories... it was my first "pro" camera.

Do you reckon these guys would know how to fix a Fuji A350 that has a broken display? Will give them a buzz tomorrow, but does anyone know anything about their service and ability... and price?
